Jinx: The Wizards Apprentice by Sage Blackwood

This is an adorable book about a wayward apprentice to a wizard who doubts his young charge’s abilities right from the outset. Jinx has the ability to hear the thoughts and feelings of the tallest trees through digging his feet into the forest and knows there is a darkness coming, but little does he suspect it will be in the form of two of his fellow travellers who like himself are under a curse. One is a witch’s daughter, who has the curse of always telling the truth, one she find insufferable, the other is the son of a king, who cannot tell anyone who is.

This is a most unusual and fabulous novel.

Perfect for ages 9 plus
