The Anatomy of Wings by Karen Foxlee

This novel could be rather gloomy, instead it is moving and uplifting. Ten-year-old Jennifer reflects on the death of her sister Beth and the family's reaction to grief. With the insight only a ten-year-old can have she finds omens and magic in the last months of Beth's life and wonderful signs afterwards, like learning to sing again!

A beautifully written novel from this prize-winning author and a wonderful sense of the outback and small town Australia. I just loved it. Karen Foxlee's latest novel is The Midnight Dress [link to this entry on the website and remove these instructions please Palash].
