Wool by Hugh Howey

Imagine the world ‘outside’ is deadly and poisonous. All that is left of mankind is living in a silo a hundreds stories deep in the desert floor. Fully self-contained for the population, one person must die to allow another to be born. Anyone who questions this or misbehaves is sent outside, freeing up another family on the list to have a baby. Jules is a strong girl who questions this existence and wonders if there is ‘more’ outside the silo. She risks all to push further into the unknown.

Exciting and different, this book is sci-fi at its best. I loved it and can't wait for the sequel, Shift.
